Yayoi Kusama

Yayoi Kusama is one of the greatest living artists of our time.  She breaks all creative boundaries and works in painting, sculpture, performance-art, poetry, novels, urban installations, fashion design, and film.  The biography slideshow on her website is remarkable: she literally has been painting poka dots since the age of ten.  Now, she’s quite good at it.

Wikipedia points out that on Nov. 8th, 2008, Chrystie’s New York sold a work by her for $5,100,000 — a record high for a living female artist.
