I just learned about Houzz.com, which looks like a pretty extensive resource for anyone renovating their space. Cavern seems to be well represented– I have never seen this ‘blackbird’ installation shot but it looks great! Thanks Suzzy for giving me a heads up about Houzz!

Tom Slaughter’s ‘Library‘ pattern was installed yesterday for a temporary exhibition at the Park Avenue Armory. The legendary Sandy Smith is hosting his annual antiquarian book fair this weekend. Slaughter’s pattern makes for a perfect entrance. I’ll get more photos from when the space is fully installed, but here’s a sneak preview of the installation. Thank you Sandy, Tom, Kimberly, Marianna, and Tom Nulty for coming together to make this happen!

Just got this installation shot from Auckland, New Zealand. (Those blackbirds are really quite international.) I really like how wallpaper functions at the top of a staircase, expanding the space and revealing itself as you walk closer to it. Thanks for the photo Natasha!

Intern at large Karli Hendrickson just e-mailed me about a fabulous zebra wallpaper pattern by Scalamandre. She and I both know the pattern from Gino’s restaurant (at 780 Lexington Ave.) And we’re both huge fans.
It reminded Karli of the Cavern zebra pattern for Anthropologie.
And she realized it was used in Wes Anderson’s “The Royal Tenenbaums.”
I just saw “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and loved the entire visual package, especially the wallpaper. Wes Anderson uses patterns well!

Just saw the November 2009 issue of House Beautiful — and Cavern is featured! Love the “Blackbird” pattern in the bathroom. Especially with the mirrors reflecting the graphic image and with the wallpaper continuing onto the ceiling, the room truly becomes unique and memorable. Thanks Thom Filicia for thinking of us in your showcase!
