After 28 years, Metropolitan Home is ceasing publication with its December 2009 issue.  In the spirit of remembering the best of something instead of lamenting its loss, here is some fantastic inspiration for your walls featured in Met Home.

Picture 1

The always inspired Kelly Wearstler using hand painted wallpaper in her California beach home.  I love the combination of this graphic attitude with a distinctly open, airy sensibility.  The angular wallpaper and complimentary rug create work well together, creating a unified space that is unique and inviting.  Very cool.

Doug Meyer’s bedroom collage, made mostly with magazine clippings. Personally, I would be worried that if I hung a bunch of magazine pages on my wall they would look more like a teenager’s attempts at “cool” rather than a high class, upscale design choice– but Meyer pulls it off impeccably.

In this living room, Raji Radhakrishnan (founder of Raji RM) installed a hugely blown up piece of a mural at Versailles and added a sepia tone. Inspired. I love it.

And here, Raji turned a white bedroom wall into a piece of art= painted directly onto it.  Like the magazine photo collage, I would probably not try this myself, but the design choice is incredible when done at this level of artsmanship.
